Those of us who walk along this road
do so reluctantly.
Lent is not our favorite time of year.
We’d rather be more active—
planning and scurrying around.
All this is too contemplative to suit us.
Besides we don’t know what to do
with piousness and prayer.
Perhaps we’re afraid to have time to think,
for thoughts come unbidden.
Perhaps we’re afraid to face our future
knowing our past.
Give us the courage, O God,
to hear your word
and to read our living into it.
Give us the trust to know we’re forgiven,
and give us the faith
to take up our lives and walk

With it comes the promise of spring. Yet today I see new snow on the mountains and hear about many places in our state that awoke to snow. This is kind of like our journey through Lent. All of the time we are drawing closer to Easter with its message of transformed living and life andyet Lent is a time of shadows. It is a time where recall our mistakes and failings. This week in my sermon series we are going to be loooking at Wednesday of the Last Week in Jesus Life. We will be focusing on Judas and ask the question of why he thought it necessary to betray Jesus. We will also ask the more difficult question of, “When have my actions or words sounded more like those of Judas than of a disciple?” I hope to see you in worship.

We have choices each day as to how we live and experience God in our lives.
