Noisy Can Offering: This Sunday, May 30, 2021

The Missions Ministry Team has decided to focus donations for the May Noisy Can offering to support the needs of students in advanced math classes at Sequim High School. It is a bit early to be collecting funds for back-to-school “anything” in May, but we wish to have the funds on hand when they are needed. (The August 29 NCO will be just past the dates for school needs.) We continue to request donations in cash or checks – no coins. Please issue checks to TUMC and write “May NCO” in the memo section. If donating cash, please enclose funds in an envelope that is labeled “May NCO”. As always, any amounts are greatly appreciated!

TUMC Parish Nurse

The Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC or Personnel Committee) met with Kathleen Charters to reaffirm her role at TUMC going forward. It was mutually agreed upon that Kathleen’s background and skills provide a vital service to TUMC. The SPRC voted to return Kathleen to her staff position at TUMC as Parish Nurse, with the responsibility for coordinating and supporting the TUMC Senior Ministries programs.

Summer Lunch Program for Children

Friends, the Boys & Girls Club will be restarting their summer lunch program for the children of our community starting in mid-June. TUMC has participated in this ministry outreach since 2012. The basic format is distributing meals that have been prepared at the B&G Club at four sites in the greater Sequim area. The need is for one volunteer for each site. The volunteer must have been fully vaccinated and loves working with children. There will be a B&G staff member on-site at each location to assist. TUMC’s typical commitment in the past is covering a couple of weeks throughout the summer; other faith groups and community service groups also cover weeks. A meeting will be announced to go over the specifics. Thank you to our church for being in ministry to our community and more importantly for our children. If interested, please contact Jim Stoffer at jamesstoffer@wavecable.com or 360.775.9356

Let’s give Trinity some TLC!

Come on out to Trinity TLC where we do light maintenance around the Church while sharing in fellowship. We meet every two weeks, and our next meeting is on Friday, 28 May at 9:30 AM for a couple of hours. We will be cutting grass, doing light maintenance and upkeep, some springtime work, and of course having a cup of Rainshadow Dungeness Dark coffee and light eats. All are welcome! For more info, call Andy Pitts, 804-724-3401.

Recycle Empty Inkjet and Laser Printer Cartridges

The recycle container for empty inkjet and laser printer cartridges and used cell phones is now in the church office. Besides helping the environment by recycling, the church is paid for every item donated. Thanks so much for your continued (or new) participation in this program!

Update on Volunteering to help with Portable Emergency Kitchen

We have six people so far who have volunteered. Additional volunteers are welcome to train and help with one of the portable kitchens in the event of a major catastrophe. This kitchen would be deployed in the Sequim area where food would be provided and served. If you are interested, contact Jan Kreidler at 360-681-5027 or janet2.kreidler@gmail.com.

A Basic First Aid Class

taught by Mark Bowes will be offered Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 12:30 to 4:30 pm in the fellowship hall. The cost of the class is $45 per person. The class is limited to 12 participants. On completion of the class, a Basic First Aid card good for 2 years will be issued. Sign up no later than June 18. Bible Study

Renewed: Finding Hope When You Don’t Like Your Story, by Heather M. Dixon. This class meets Tuesdays from 1:00-2:30 p.m. for 4 weeks on June 1, 8, 15, and 22, 2021.

In this four-week Bible study, we’ll explore the life of Naomi as told in the Book of Ruth. We will learn to flourish as we live out our hard stories and trust that God can transform them. We’ll trade our heartache for delight as we discover a God who rescues and redeems. For more information and to sign up for this class, contact Kathleen Charters by emailing kcharters@mac.com or calling 240-463-7598.

Hours for the volunteers are 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If you would like to help with the food distributions, contact Jan Kreidler (360-681-5027 or janet2.kreidler@gmail.com).
