To all our siblings at Trinity United Methodist Church,

Grace to you and peace from God, our Creator, and Christ, our Savior.

I am writing this letter to share with you that Bishop Elaine Stanovsky intends to appoint the Rev. Deborah “Desi” Larson as pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sequim, Washington effective July 1, 2022.

Rev. Deborah "Desi" Larson
Rev. Deborah “Desi” Larson

Pastor Desi holds a BA degree in English and Visual Arts from Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania and a Master of Divinity from Boston University in Massachusetts. Being a life-long learner, Pastor Desi also received MS and PhD degrees in Adult Education from Cornell University in New York.

She was commissioned as Provisional Member of the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2007 and then ordained in 2011 as Full Member. In 2019, she transferred her membership to the Oregon-Idaho Conference.

Currently, Pastor Desi is serving as pastor of Ashton Community United Methodist Church in Ashton, Idaho. Prior to this, she served as pastor of several of our churches in Maine, namely Readfield, Brackett Memorial and Merriland Ridge United Methodist Churches.

Feel free to announce this to the congregation beginning Sunday, 27 February 2022.

I also pray for God’s grace and abundant blessing on your pastor, the Rev. Joey Olson. We are so grateful to Pastor Joey for her willingness to step in and provide the pastoral leadership the church surely needed in the past few months. I hope you can find ways to honor and thank Pastor Joey for her faithful and grace-filled service and leadership with you.

May the Holy Spirit continue to enliven and guide your lives and ministries so you can become the radically welcoming and loving faith community, you were always meant to be.

Your fellow disciple,

Rev. J. Mark Galang District Superintendent
