Christmas Eve Service Remote

For those who won’t be able to be in the sanctuary, the service will be on the Trinity website and YouTube (hopefully) by Christmas Day.

A Little Music!

Trinity has been given the go-ahead for singing from soloists and ensembles. Let us all give thanks for this small step forward.

Christmas Eve Offering to Benefit Nepal

Katherine Parker (stationed in Nepal as a missionary for the General Board of Global Missions of the UMC), has indicated that there is a great need for treatment (surgery and physical therapy equipment, wheelchair-accessible ramps, toilets, and more) for the care and assistance of disabled people in Nepal. Any donation, large or small is greatly appreciated! If you choose to make a donation, please issue a check to TUMC, indicating “Christmas Eve” in the memo section. There is a display in our new Information Center (located just inside, left of Fellowship Hall) that shares additional details, as well as biographical info on Katherine Parker.

Let’s give Trinity some TLC!

Come on out to Trinity TLC where we do light maintenance around the church while sharing in fellowship. We meet every two weeks, and our next meeting is Friday, December 10 at 9:30 AM for a couple of hours. We will be cutting grass (if needed), doing light maintenance and upkeep, doing jobs that need doing, and of course, having a cup of coffee and light eats. All are welcome! Sequim Community Aid Toy Give-Away

December 15, 9 am to 4 pm at Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road. Donations can be dropped off at The Co-op, Grocery Outlet or Starbucks.

Pacific NW Conference Disaster Fund

In view of recent flooding in Washington State, donations can be sent to the PNW Conference Disaster Fund by writing a check to TUMC, indicating Advance #352 in the memo section.

The Sequim Food Bank

They are currently accepting feminine hygiene products and baby products. Also needed are cans and shelf-stable low-sodium soups, low-sugar cereals, macaroni and cheese boxes, and various condiments (i.e. ketchup, mustard, etc.). If you would like to donate any of the above items, you may bring them to the church and place them in the food container near the table at the front door. Note: Please donate only the items that are listed above. Thank you for caring!

Holiday Food Box Distribution:

Friday, December 17 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. We are grateful to know that we have enough volunteers already signed up to help. Another way you might consider helping would be to pick up/deliver food to someone (family member, friend, or neighbor) who does not have transportation.

TUMC Missions Ministry has funds available to help folks with necessary home maintenance projects. Please let your friends and neighbors know that this is not just limited to the TUMC congregation. It is truly “neighbors helping neighbors.” This might include basic home repairs, yard cleanup, ramps, grab bars, and other in-home needs. One household could receive one grant per year with a maximum of up to $500. Confidential requests will go through Lois’s Legacy. Contact Senior Ministries Office 360-683-4307 for further information.

Recycle Empty Inkjet and Laser Printer Cartridges

The recycle container for empty inkjet and laser printer cartridges and used cell phones is now in the church office. Besides helping the environment by recycling, the church is paid for every item donated. Thanks so much for your continued (or new) participation in this program!

Stewardship Letter and Pledge Card

Watch for your stewardship letter and pledge card on Sunday morning. Please pick yours up and save the church a stamp. If you can’t make it to church, it will be mailed to you.

Veterans Day Service

Our Veterans Day Service will be celebrated this Sunday, November 14. Normally, we have our pictorial tribute in the Fellowship Hall. However, this year we are going to present it in the Sanctuary prior to the start of Worship from 9:30 to 10:00. Come early and remember our veterans.

TUMC Annual Reports for 2021

The Trinity United Methodist annual reports are available in the church office during the week and will be out on the table on Sunday for anyone who is interested in picking one up.

Free Youth Mental Health First Aid Classes for Clallam County Residents

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a nationally recognized certification course that will teach you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness, substance abuse disorders, and challenges that youth face in our community. Classes were made possible through grant funding from Clallam County Health and Human Services.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings: 9:00 am-2:30 pm, Nov. 19 Here at Trinity UMC

2.0 hrs. of online pre-work must be completed before the 4.5 hr. in-person training date.

An excellent program for parents, grandparents and people who work with youth.

Opportunities to Serve Our Community!

We have been asked to again partner with the Sequim Food Bank, CERT, and the City of Sequim to distribute the Holiday Food Boxes. The dates are both Fridays: November 19 and December 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. As we did last time, some of us will be staging our guests in our TUMC parking lot before directing them to the Guy Cole Center for the food boxes. This will involve standing most of the time; it is recommended that volunteers wear sturdy shoes and bring a lawn chair for sitting during the occasional quiet times. Some TUMC volunteers also helped with the actual food distribution at the Guy Cole Center, and help will be needed there as well. If you can volunteer one or both of those days, or if you would like more information, please contact Jan Kreidler at 360-681-5027 or janet2.kreidler@gmail.com.

PNW Conference of the UMC Early Response Team Basic Training is Back!

There will be an eight-hour, Zoom-based ERT Basic Training on Friday, December 3, and Monday, December 6, both days 1:30-5:30 (PST).
 The class will include real-world examples, interactive activities, and an opportunity to virtually meet people with a passion to serve.
 Both days are required to complete the training. Anyone 18 years or older is welcome to attend. Registration fees are waived for this Zoom-based training. Class size is limited so register ASAP at: Be Ready. Registration deadline is Friday, November 19 unless the class fills prior. There are pre-class requirements to complete prior to the training. A new small group is starting: COVID-19 Transition: Redesigning My New Normal, in Christ

This is a small group developed for those who are vaccinated yet, for a variety of reasons, may feel reluctant to come out of sheltering. They may be feeling unsafe, confused, and unclear about the best approaches to take. They may know they need to reconnect with others but just cannot find the motivation.

If this is you, you’re not alone. It’s a nationwide issue and can be very challenging. Melody has been developing her own redesign and has wonderful strategies that work, to share with you!

Come and develop steps to prayerfully create your individual reopening, done using your inner wisdom at your own pace. Come and learn professionally researched calming and healing tools to aid you in a safe and accepting atmosphere.

Group will be held on July 21, 1:00 pm in person at Trinity; A second group is scheduled on Thursdays, noon on Zoom. Each group meets for 6 weeks, 1.5 hours.

Wrap-up on Food Box Distribution from Jim Stoffer

This program started at the Sequim High School parking lot in June 2020 and moved to the Guy Cole Center and our TUMC parking lot in October in response to the food insecurity faced by so many during the pandemic. Demand has decreased so this drive-through program has ended. (However, people are welcome to stop by the Sequim Food Bank during their regular hours.) In celebration of and gratitude to Andra Smith/the Sequim Food Bank, Blaine and Cindy Zechenelly/CERT, the City of Sequim, Trinity UMC, and for all of the volunteers and their work. If you are interested in the statistics: nearly 700 tons of food/ 1.25 million meals were shared with approximately 17,000 families. We have an awesome community and church!

Safety Ministry and Medical Response Team Opportunity

As part of our Safety Ministry, TUMC has a Medical Response Team. Each Sunday one member of this team sits in the back of the sanctuary during worship with a Medical Kit. Each member performs this duty once a month. If there is a medical or mental health emergency, the person on duty makes sure the appropriate action is taken. Medical Response Team members include individuals with advanced medical training; emergency medical technicians or others with emergency medical training. Team members will be oriented to the Medical Kit, must be willing to have current basic first aid certification, and take a mental health first aid course. If you are willing to join the Safety Ministry or the Medical Response Team and need to take the basic first aid course or the mental health first aid course, you can get a scholarship to attend.
